Winter is here and I’m super excited because I can finally dig into my closet and pick all my favourite winter pieces and put them to use, more importantly, I get to wear my favourite boots and scarves !!!
What I love about winters is the misty mornings and dewy nights. It’s the best time for weekend trips and long drives exploring the western ghats and its winding roads.
Winter in Goa lasts for barely 3 months, so we get a very short window to flaunt our best winter wear, be it coats, shoes, sweaters or gloves. But the climate across is India is very different, and keeping this in mind, I’ve put together several looks based on what might work for you.
Today’s post is about looking through your winter closet and making the best use of the different colors you may have with you, to create some amazing looks.
I will also share a few links of outfits that are pretty close to what I have in my closet so that you can buy them from my favourite online store Myntra .
Mellow in Yellow
Did you know that mustard is one color that goes really well on Indian skin ? Personally I never did think so and used to stick to the regular colors like whites, blues and reds, but today I have about 3 mustard tops and they go very well on navy and other darker shade bottom wear. For this first look I chose to wear my well-knit, turtleneck body con black dress and layered it with a mustard colour crop sweater that was once used by my mum to work in her early 20s.
What makes this a classic favourite is not just the style but also the ease with which the two colors blend together to create such an easy going look for a day at work, or an evening cuppa. To complete this look I’ve put on these suede block heel boots that were a purchased from Shopnineteen, which I’ve been using since last winter.
If you too have a body con black dress like the one I’m wearing in this look, don’t be afraid to team it with a contrasting color sweater along with your favourite pair of boots or sneakers (a very sporty option over boots).
Style Tip: This look would not be complete without a little french twist. As you can see, I’ve also donned a black hat with a cute bow from Ayesha store and I must say I feel really proud of how this look has turned out, hope you too enjoy it…
As promised, you too can get the look by looking up a few favourites I picked from Myntra to help you make a choice and stand out from the rest.

Look 2 :
Skating in Pink
A skater dress is fun to twirl in and it also draws attention to one’s curves and shoulder making you look tall and bold. To add to the drama and elegance of the whole look, I’ve also worn a pair of stockings from Forever 21 that I’d purchased during their sale sometime back, and to finish the look, I’ve worn the same boots as you see in Look One.
What I love about this outfit is how easy and breezy it feels, so apt for the climate we are in. Not too cold not that hot, this is very easy look for most of you gals to recreate. I would recommend styling your dresses with stockings especially when at work, which will make you look very smart and professional. All in all simple and not at all boring… I mean look at that hot shade of PINK! I just love it.
Styling Tip: To better this look a little more, try wearing a black beaded choker or a single knot scarf as an accessory

Look 3 :
OKAY! So I had the most amount of fun shooting for this look … Putting this ensemble together was all about creating a relaxed look yet keeping it stylish for the winters. I don’t like my clothes to look boring and over the few months that I’ve been writing and suggesting styles, I realized how colors change the perspective completely.
This is such a refreshing look, it reminds me of high street fashion. To start off, I love these high waist pants which were gifted to me a while ago. Monochrome shorts & skirts are a big plus to have in your wardrobe. Style them with a solid color top and your sorted. What do you think about this red jacket? Well I picked this one up from a street shop in Mumbai (no idea what brand it is!). I’m usually not a big fan of colorful jackets but this one caught my eye and I just had to give it a try.
To recreate this look, layer a regular white tank top with a biker jacket and monochrome high waist shorts (not ideal for very cold countries/ states). You can also wear black stocking under the shorts if the weather is very cold. If shorts are not your style, a short skirt or a pair of black / patterned trousers could also work to recreate this look.
Style Tip: Jacket of a solid color is the best way to pull this look off, textured pants are in so don’t refrain from experimenting with the bottom wear (even a maxi skirt will look great)

Ok this was one of the first looks I had planned to use for this post, reason being, I was very excited to show off my distressed jeans that I created myself with the help of a pair of scissors and tweezers. It’s very easy to get your old jeans upgraded to a pair of distressed jeans and there are many tutorials available on Youtube to help you.
Another cool thing about this look is my pair of beige boots. I don’t know if you shopped from this store before called Done By None. I have almost 4 pairs from DBN, their shoe collection was amazing but unfortunately they closed down a while back and I still miss them sometimes. But dont worry, I’ve shared below a similar pair of boots you can get your hands on from Myntra.
This look is again easy to style. An oversize sweater or sweatshirt have been trending for a while now, while the ripped jeans are apt for everyday use. The benefit of distressing your old denims is that you can cut the jeans as per your preference and how much you seem fit.
For this look, I got my old wrangler jeans distressed and paired them with this cute buttoned down sweater from Next UK. The idea was to keep this simple, casual yet warm with a sense of comfort.
I also wanted to wear a pair of fishnet stockings but couldn’t find the right one for this particular look, they are all over the internet ever since the Paris Fashion Week.
Style tip: I love woolen wear and always opt for a pure woolen stitched sweater, buttoned down to get this perfect body fit style. Also, you can replace the jeans with leggings or jeggings with tall ankle boots to better this look.
