It’s taken a while for me to recover from my health issues, get back into work mode and finally back to best part – Blogging. Life sometimes gets very challenging and this forceful break from Material Girl made me realize how much I need this side of me to be out there.
For today’s post I wanted to get on to a very fun topic we all struggle with – “casual wear”. College, work or no work, we all need our favourite casual wear in line with the growing trends, Don’t we? So how bout creating some fusion looks with the pieces from your closet and working it up from there… Here are 4 looks I’ve put together for today’s look book.
No Stress Dress
Don’t be surprised but an oversized shirt works really well as a dress. Take for instance your boyfriends formal shirt or dads shirt, roll up the sleeves and for the waistline, add thick belt that will hold in the waist. To add finish to this look, one can pleat the center of the shirt from waist downwards and iron on it to create lovely gathers.
One of my favourites, this shirt dress has been with me for ages and works really well with the right pair of shoes/ sneakers to create a very sporty and comfortable college look.
I have added a black belt to break the monotony of the a-line and fit into a more defined fit for my body type. I’d love braided hair but I love the breeze flowing through my hair so have left it open with an addition of hairband by Shein I picked up while go.
To finish the look I’ve worn a nude shade of eye shadow and blended it with a darker matte black shade from Makeup Revolution’s Eyeshadow Palette and mascara for my lashes by Maybelline.
So this was so unplanned yet a very fruitful experiment that has got a lot of likes on Instagram already. Jeans is a habit we cannot get over and so for the next look I had to make good use of the pair of jeans along with something fusion.
Mix and match is always something that gives me high. To keep it cool for the season and not too over the top, I put together my stretch jeans with a single fold on the ankles. Teamed it with a spaghetti top and as an overall also wore this ethnic jacket by Libas that I picked from Myntra… simple isn’t it? That’s the fun bit when it comes to styling something and getting such fantastic results – Simplicity yet something unlikely.
To complete this look, I’ve opted for big colorful earrings with simple flats apt for the monsoon season. A basic wrist watch to go with the college girl persona.
Since I’m doing college looks, I have gone for a more minimal – youthful look here. Black kohl for the waterlines and Maybelline’s liquid eyeliner for the eyes.
Overall in Olive
High street fashion is all about swag and confidence, basic white crop tee and green overalls and voila, a quick fix to sob shades that create a fun out of the box look.
So let’s get onto the details. . .
Olive shade has become a staple and to take this trend forward I chose to put together white and olive to “bring out the fun” in this outfit. Bustier too would be apt here but not for college so I’ve kept it simple. High messy bun or a pony, hoops for earrings and your favourite pair of sport shoes will do just the job to jazz this look up.
Overalls never left the casual wear isle, be it rolled up or wide width, pick up a favourite onesie and pop color tee to get a similar look. Remember the scene of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai where Anjali is in pair of red overalls and white tee ? I definitely loved that fun side to her character, so loosen up a lil gals and try this look
Natural tones are big on my list for a while now… I fell in love with this one-zie on the streets of Bangkok as soon as I laid my eyes on it. The white crop tee is a pick again from my favourite store Shein while the Shoes are by Westside’s new shoe brand – Luna Blu
I am a big fan of Hoops and had to dorn this lovely silver ones by Shein which adds the exact amount of oomph to complete this look .
Not so Grey
Off shoulders are the new tube tops of this decade and how can we not include them in today’s look book ? Casual college wear does have the trend of crop tops and oversize tees & shirts but what if off sleeves could be worn a lot more often? Breaking the norm of sleeves I believe this next look is bold and fun. You will definitely enjoy showing off your shoulder and flaunting your ankle taking from this look.
Culottes are bygones and wide width ankle height pants are here to stay,be it as formal or casual wear. Swag up your style quotient with a patterned high ankle pant and a solid tucked in top, cute pair of shoes/ wedges and your backpack and that is all the convincing you would need to pull off this look.
To take this a step further, I’ve worn my favourite black off – sleeve top by New look & paired it up with my Shein wide width pants. The black belt at the waist makes for a classic choice as work wear as well.
Since we are discussing casual wear, I’ve accessorized a little and pulled this look off with a pair of sandals, red sunglasses, high pony and a bow tied headband. Now vibe with me…
