Trend Alert: How to rock “florals”

Hey lovelies Good day to you and welcome to Material Girl !

I have something interesting to share with you today which has been a favourite for a while and a trend you just can’t ignore.

As you must’ve already guessed from the title of this post, I’m referring to the floral print trend. If you had a chance to go through my closet, you’d find about 4 to 5 tops, denims & dresses all in floral print that are versatile and I’ve worn effortlessly for many occasions. I enjoy mixing & matching my floral print shirt with a dark denim skirt or jeans and a leather jacket for a casual day out. This trend got me thinking of so many ways I’ve seen the floral trend diversify and grow into becoming a revolution which is soooo big this upcoming Summer season and a must have in one’s closet.

For today’s post I want to share one my looks in a summer floral dress I picked from AliExpress a while ago and also share some trends & styles in floral prints with a few examples to help understand and indulge in the floral print trend. This will also help you decide on what to pick when going out shopping for the latest and the trendiest pieces.

So without any fuss, let’s get on to it !

This mini, one sleeve dress is just what I need to make a clean statement that is bold and speaks “less is more!”  I love to wear dresses that show off my shoulder bones and my neck and shoulder.

For this particular look I’m sporting the floral piece from AliExpress, teamed it up with my favourite boots from Koovs and Voila…

A casual party, going out dancing? Then this can be the #ootd you were looking for. I enjoy this easy going, free flowing bohemian look for a regular party night with friends or dine & dance under the stars at the beach.

Moving on to trends, when referring to Floral Prints I have found the pictogram below to be aptly describing each trend

Floral Appliques:

Floral appliques have been in the game for years but in a more subtle manner.

Year 2017 saw major brands flaunting the floral applique on every piece of top wear, dress or jeans you would see on runways. I was amused by how the local stores in Delhi had replicas of big brands copying this trend on striped dresses, shirts and making this trend so viral.

I’ve been following the applique trend for a while now and seen how mainstream the trend has gotten with floral cutouts, emojis and some such on casual wear, dresses, denim jackets you name it.

Floral embroidered tops / jeans

The Floral trend is evergreen when you think about embroidery. Intricate designs can be seen on all piece of garment ranging from blouses to sheer shrugs, Vintage dresses, & so on. I being a big fan of embroidery, Indian wear like lehengas and salwars customized with hand make works has always caught my attention. International brands like Next, Chanel have taken this trend to the next level by popularizing the works on denim jackets, trousers and intricate designer-wear which is simply mind-boggling.

Floral accessories:

Floral prints are here to stay and how! It’s incredible how fashion designers like Alexander McQueen, Chloé, Gucci, Carolina Herrera inspire usto think beyond the obvious and try looks and styles out of the box. Accessorizing with florals can be great fun and the few accessories shown below suggest exactly that!

I’ve loved carrying a floral scarf or sporting a purse on an all-black #lbd time & again. This experience only adds more eyeballs and sets a statement with bold solid outfits when worn along with a pair of floral stilettos, a floral belt across ones waistline or a sleek chain with a floral printed clutch.

Suited up in floral print :

How about a floral suit from blazer to trousers? Well I couldn’t take my eyes of this one and was totally awed by the prints. Very botanical yet elegant and feminine I must say. It’s high time that we replace the solid appeal with a solid color suit and get some feminine vibes going with an ensemble as cool and vibrant as this.

H&M’s Collection has a few dark floral suits when they associated with designer Erdem floral collection.

Floral jackets & coats:

If you’re not a complete fan of the floral print saga, you can definitely indulge in a good time piece that will last you for seasons and make a statement every time you embrace the floral. I am a sucker for shrugs & jackets in loud prints but I began experimenting with jackets and shrugs as a safe choice before taking bigger risks and going all out!

To conclude, I hope this post has got you motivated enough to hit the stores and purchase the best of the sale season! Also calling out all the lovely #shoppers out there, share that one must have floral article you think is a must have!
